QBIC (Quality Based Improvements in Care) is a program hosted by the eHealth Centre of Excellence (eCE) that works to provide primary care providers within Waterloo Wellington with support to incorporate telehealthcare services, such as eConsult, into their practice workflow.
“People with mobility challenges are a marginalized population that we need to take better care of because they face complex medical needs and may use more health care resources and require more hospitalizations.” - Dr. Milligan
On November 13, 2014, Dr. Milligan was named the recipient of the Bruce Halliday Award for Care of the Disabled because of his contribution to the welfare of disabled patients at the Mobility Clinic. The award, which is supported by the Research and Education Foundation of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, is named in the memory of Dr. Bruce Halliday, a past president of CFPC and OCFP, a federal member of parliament for 20 years and a champion of the disabled in Canada.
The Mobility Clinic is continuing to work with the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation and UW-Schlegel Research Institute for Aging in research activities. In addtion, the Mobility Clinic will be expanding, opening a second clinic at the Andrew Street Medical Centre in the fall. We will be accepting referrals from across the LHIN for helping individuals with significant physical disabilities (i.e. spinal cord injury, MS, stroke, cerebral palsy, arthritis) or secondary complications (neurogenic bowel, bladder; spasticity) related to physical disabilities.
Their contact number for information is (519) 904-0656.
